The church

The Protestant village church of St. Peter and Paul is located in Mönchenholzhausen in the Grammetal community in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia . The parish belongs to the parish Vieselbach in the parish of Weimar of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The church is centrally located in Altdorf on Dorfstrasse.

history

The church was first mentioned in 1309. The current building goes back to renovations in the baroque period . In the 19th century a pulpit altar and galleries were built.

A comprehensive renovation took place in 1994–1999. From 2001 to 2014 there was a church building and homeland association in the village.

Furnishing

The organ of August Witzmann built in 1844, is currently unplayable. Witzmann incorporated various parts of the predecessor organ by Peter Herold (1700). The instrument has 18 stops on two manuals and a pedal .

The largest work by the artists Karl , Franz and Otto Goepfart, who grew up in Mönchenholzhausen , the painting Jesus Blesses the Children by Franz Goepfart, is owned by the parish.
