St. Peter and Paul (Munningen)
The Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul in Munningen , a municipality in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries , was originally built in the Middle Ages .
History and architecture
A church in Munningen was first mentioned in 1370. The core of the square substructure of the tower dates from the beginning of the 13th century. The polygonal superstructure of the tower and the nave were built in the second half of the 18th century. The year 1770 is in a cartridge above the south portal.
The rectangular, flat-roofed choir has a 3/8 end. The nave with a flat ceiling has a gallery to the west. The tower has narrow light slots on the first three floors and arched windows on the fourth floor. The leaning tower, which deviates from the vertical to the west, ends with a curved tent roof . The tower has a height of 41 m to the highest point. From this point it is 1.41 m crooked vertically to the floor. He was supported about 3 decades ago. Dozens of concrete columns with a length of up to 20 m were sunk into the ground in order to prevent further oblique subsidence.
