history

Parish church Tann

The church was originally a branch church of the parish rooms , with which it shares the earlier history. Both churches belonged to the Archdiocese of Salzburg and originally to the Stammham parish . Through the nobles von Tann and the Counts von Leonberg , the church received ample property in Zimmer. This was the prerequisite for both Zimmer and Tann to leave the Stammheim parish and be made into a separate parish. On July 20, 1316, Count Heinrich VII von Leonberg donated his possessions to Zimmer and Tann to the Gangkofen Order of the Teutonic Order, founded by his grandfather, and from then on the church to Tann the Coming also belonged.

In 1812 Zimmer and Tann were incorporated into the Passau diocese . But Tann did not become an independent parish until 1849. Following the abolition of the dean's office in 1977, this has belonged to the dean's office in Simbach, located in the Diocese of Passau.

Construction

The church is a single-nave west-facing hall church with a retracted choir and an east tower in the central axis. The classicist furnishings were made between 1798 and 1801 by master mason Martin Desch from Pfarrkirchen .

The execution, including one of the largest marble altars in the Diocese of Passau, is due to the pilgrimage to the Lord God of Tann , which, according to legend, has been a miraculous crucifix and Tanner's landmark since 1697 . This crucifix was at times one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in Old Bavaria. Since 2007, pilgrimage days have been offered again on a regular basis in September near the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross (September 14th).

The cemetery wall, which belongs to the church ensemble, is equipped with a basket arched gate and a gable top from the 18th century.
