The church

The Protestant village church of St. Peter and Paul is located in the municipality of Tonndorf in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia . It belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Kranichfeld in the Weimar parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The village church is located in the southern village on the edge of a hill to the valley basin around Hohenfelden and Nauendorf .

history

The rectangular church tower from the 12th century, which was part of a Romanesque predecessor, and two grave slabs on the ground floor from the pre-Carolinian times around 800 are the oldest witnesses of this settlement and the church .

The nave goes back to a renovation in 1494. It contains a winged altar from the castle chapel of Tonndorf Castle. The baroque tower spire dates from 1734.
