St. Petrus in Wolfersdorf

St. Petrus is the Catholic parish church of Wolfersdorf in the Freising district .

history

The castle church belonging to Wolfersdorf Castle, which was demolished in 1834, was in disrepair due to insufficient maintenance. Walls had to be supported and in 1843 even the tower had to be removed. A new building was therefore initiated by Pastor Johann Roßnagel.

A first draft by Baptist Lang from Vötting was not approved in 1864. The design by the Munich architect Klumpp was implemented. The foundation stone for the new building was laid on July 21, 1867. The shell was completed in 1869. The church was consecrated on September 17, 1874 by Archbishop Gregor von Scherr .

The left side altar is dedicated to the Mother of God . The altar is flanked by statues of Saint Joseph and Saint Anthony. The right side altar is dedicated to Saint Sebastian , with the statues of Leonhard von Limoges and Florian von Lorch .

The church clock was installed in 1890, the stained glass windows in 1894. The organ taken over from the castle church was replaced in 1889 by a new organ donated by Therese Rieger. The bells from the Anton Oberascher company from 1869 had to be delivered in 1917 and were replaced by three new bells from the Ulrich bell foundry in Kempten in 1924 .
