St. Pius (Munster)
The St. Pius Church is a Catholic church in the northeast of Münster and has been a subsidiary of the parish of St. Edith Stein since 2003.
history
The church was built from 1962 to 1963 according to plans by the architects Paul Eiling and Günther Fiedler and consecrated to Pope Pius X. With the consecration, the new parish of St. Pius was created by way of the parish. In 2003 the community was dissolved as an independent parish and assigned to the newly created parish of Saint Edith Stein, whose mother church is the St. Erpho Church.
The St. Pius Church is the church of the African community in Münster.
architecture
The main room of the church has the plan of a regular hexagon. A tapering choir room closing on both sides is added to the east side . To the west is the free-standing tower, which was built in 1964 and only equipped with four bells in 1988.

Furnishing
The furnishings , in particular the altar, the tabernacle as well as the ambo, the altar candlesticks and the baptismal font were created by the artist Josef Baron (Hemmerde near Unna). The altar cross is over 300 years old and comes from Tyrol. In the altar are relics of St. Ursula and Faustina walled up.
organ
The organ on the back wall was built in 1967 by the Kreienbrink organ builder (Osnabrück). The slider chest instrument has 19 stops on two manuals and a pedal . The Spieltrakturen are mechanically, the Registertrakturen electrically.
