St. Sebastian in Engishausen

The Roman Catholic Kuratiekirche St. Sebastian is located in Engishausen in the municipality of Egg an der Günz in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria . The church is a listed building.

history

The church tower was built in 1681. In 1766 the church was largely rebuilt by Sebastian Moz . The core of the late Gothic choir was included in this new building . At the beginning of the 20th century, the church partially collapsed, which led to a renovation between 1935 and 1937.

Building description

The church is a hall building with a flat ceiling . The choir is strongly drawn in and closed on three sides. The church tower is on the south side and is square. In the upper area the tower is octagonal and finished with an onion dome .

Furnishing

The church furnishings are Neo-Romanesque and date from around 1873/74. The crucifixion group in the choir dates from 1700 (crucifix), the assistant figures from the first half of the 17th century. The crucifixion group is attributed to Christian Rodt , a son of Christoph Rodt . The seated figure of the scourged Christ dates from around 1700.
