The Protestant village church of St. Trinitatis is located in Wolkramshausen in the Nordhausen district in Thuringia .

history

The village church was consecrated again in 1678 after forty years of post-war construction. The nave was added to the eastern part of the former choir tower and got a new choir , two galleries with an organ and four boxes for the noble families as well as two burial places made of shell limestone .

The furnishings were splendid and well-preserved until 1985. Particularly noteworthy is the baroque pulpit altar from 1715, a donation from Pastor Jeremas Coria zu Großrudestedt . The wooden structure was formed by two palm trees, which also framed the altarpiece. The painting represented Holy Communion , the altar was crowned with the risen Christ. The construction of the church showed considerable structural defects, which is why work on securing the ruinous church shell began in 1986. In doing so, the church interior was puristically cleared out, regardless of the interior furnishings that were kept closed. The pulpit altar, as well as the baroque manorial boxes, were brutally destroyed and the church was robbed of its greatest treasure.
