St. Walburga in Borchen-Alfen

St. Walburga is a Catholic parish church in Borchen - Alfen in the Paderborn district , North Rhine-Westphalia . Church and parish belong to the Borchen pastoral network in the Paderborn deanery of the archbishopric of the same name .

Building description

The church from the 13th century is single-nave and single-bay and has a just closed choir. The defense tower adjoins it in the west. The cross vaults rest on corner pillars and are structured by Gothic belt and blind arches. The dome-like vault in the tower has no pillars or arches.

Furnishing

The furnishings included a goblet-shaped font with a round, fluted shaft. The octagonal basin is adorned with angel heads and the inscription Anno D. 1618 . There is also a late Gothic wooden pietà . The baptismal font and a late Gothic stone Madonna were moved to the new parish church in 1974 .
