St John Pike

St John Surridge Pike (born December 27, 1909 , † November 13, 1992 ) was a British (born, later Irish) Anglican bishop in the third quarter of the twentieth century.

Life

Trained at Trinity College , Dublin and ordained in 1934 , he began his career as a curate in Taney, Dublin. He was then director of the South Church Mission, Ballymacarrett , then Rector of St. George's, Belfast . In 1958 he was raised to the episcopate as Bishop of Gambia and the Rio Pongas . On his return from Africa he became assistant bishop in the Diocese of Guildford and held this office in Ewshot , Chertsey and Longcross .
