St Paul's Church is a parish of the Church of England in Birmingham ( England ). It is under monument protection as a Grade II building .
history
The church was founded in 1865 as a missionary community. Funding was later found for a permanent church. The cornerstone was laid by Augustus Gough-Calthorpe, 6th Baron Calthorpe on July 27, 1891. The church, designed by architect William Davis, was built with brick . The contractors were Harley and Son of Smethwick. The church was dedicated on September 29, 1892 by Augustus Legge , Bishop of Lichfield .
In 1894 the parish was commissioned from land from the parishes of St Mary (Handsworth) and St John the Evangelist (Perry Barr) .
Furnishing
The church is 29 meters long and 12 meters wide. It consists of a nave with a main nave and north and south aisles , a north and south transept and a choir .
The building can accommodate up to 450 people.
