The State Forestry open air is a vain and-Out - Music Festival , which takes place in the west of Lower Saxony since 1986th With around 5,000 visitors annually to several stubble fields in the Büschel district of Bakum , the festival is the largest event of its kind in the Oldenburger Münsterland .

history

The first Staatsforsten Open-Air was organized in 1986 by young people from the district of Cloppenburg in order to consciously distance themselves from the commercialization of the music business. The first open air there had 150 visitors.

The organizers of this festival have changed since it was founded, the music program and organization also changed, but despite many difficulties the non-profit principle of the event was retained.

The growth of the festival led to the foundation of the Open-Air Initiative eV sponsoring association in 1995 in order to offer interested parties and sponsors greater opportunities to participate. The bands are selected by the association every year, where jazz, soul, blues, rock, pop, metal, reggae, ska, folk, punk, gothic and hip-hop meet. Around 100 volunteers work at the festival.

For the first three years, the Staatsforsten Open-Air took place in the town of the same name . After various changes of location within the Oldenburger Münsterland, the open air has been taking place since 2002 in Büschel on some stubble fields to the west of the A1 motorway . Many of the visitors camp on the premises before and during the festival.

The open air offers young bands from the region in particular the opportunity to present their music to a broader audience and to make national contacts. A stage date for primetime is given to a regional band in the run-up to the festival via a competition.
