State Prize for Artistic Photography

The State Prize for Artistic Photography of the Republic of Austria has been awarded by the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture at irregular intervals since 1990 and is endowed with 22,000 euros (2009) and 25,000 euros (2018). A jury appointed by the Federal Minister is responsible for selecting the winner. The award winner must be an Austrian citizen or have his permanent residence in the federal territory.

In addition to the State Prize for Artistic Photography , the Federal Ministry awards two other prizes:

  • The Art Prize for Artistic Photography was known as an appreciation prize for artistic photography until 2009 and was given its current name in 2010. The award takes place annually as part of the Austrian Art Awards .
  • The Outstanding Artist Award for artistic photography has existed since 1981 and was designated as a promotional award for artistic photography until 2009 . It was given its current name in 2010, and the award, endowed with 8,000 euros, is presented annually as the category of Outstanding Artist Awards .
