Stacey Plaskett (born May 13, 1966 in New York City ) is an American politician . Since 2015, she has been the non-voting delegate of the U.S. Virgin Islands sub-area in the United States House of Representatives .

Career

In 1984 graduated from Stacey Plaskett school Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford ( Connecticut ). She then studied at Georgetown University until 1988 . After completing a law degree at American University and being admitted to the bar in 1994, she began working in this profession. For some time she served as the assistant district attorney for the New York borough of Bronx . In the meantime she also acted as a company consultant. After moving to Washington, DC , she worked there for the Ethics Committee of Congress and then for the Department of Justice . In the meantime she was also on the staff of Ron de Lugo, who was Congress Delegate for the Virgin Islands. Politically, she joined the Democratic Party .

Between 2007 and 2014, Plaskett was an economic advisor to the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority . In 2012 she ran unsuccessfully in her party's primary election for the office of Congress Delegate. She was subject to the incumbent Donna Christian-Christensen . Two years later, the latter renounced a possible continuation of their congressional career in favor of an unsuccessful candidacy for governor. This cleared the way for Stacey Plaskett, who then entered Congress on January 3, 2015 as a non-voting delegate . Re-elected in 2016, she will also serve in the 115th Congress of the United States, which meets on January 3, 2017 . Your new legislative period runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018.
