Stacyville is a city on the Little Cedar River in Mitchell County in the northeast of the US state Iowa near the Minnesota border . Stacyville has 469 inhabitants on an area of 1.2 km². Riverside Park with the small Riverside Park Pound is located near Stacyville . Another city park is Stacyville City Park . Stacyville is also connected to a railroad network that ends here. It is also affected by Iowa Highway 227 .
history
In 1855 Homer Stacy and his brother Fitch B. Stacy bought 600 acres of land in what is now the city. In February 1856, Homer and Amelia Stacy moved their family to Mitchell County. Homer built a house that was completed in June 1856. He named this area Stacyville. A post office and sawmill were opened in August of the same year. During the Second World War , many young residents joined the military. In addition, a girl from Stacyville was looking after people who were freed from a concentration camp. Many residents who served in the military were injured or killed in the war.
