The Stade de la Vallée du Cher is a football stadium in the French city ​​of Tours , Indre-et-Loire department in the Center-Val de Loire region . The main user of the sports facility is the FC Tours football club . It currently offers 10,128 places.

history

The stadium was opened on September 2, 1978 with the second division game FC Tours against SC Amiens . At that time, after the first construction phase, it had 8,000 places. A year later there were 22,000 spectators. The attendance record comes from May 29, 1981 in the league game between FC Tours and AS Saint-Etienne . At that time Tours played in the first division for four years and 21,595 spectators watched the game. Until the renovation from 2006 to 2007, the stadium had 10,800 and then 13,500 seats. Due to some structural safety measures, there were later still 12,699 places. In 2008, talks began to renovate and expand the arena. The mayor and the club management agreed in May 2008 to modernize and expand the Stade de la Vallée du Cher. The work should be completed in three years, the costs were around 34 million estimated and should be funded by local authorities and sponsors. After the construction of a new north stand with 4,977 seats, the Stade de la Vallée du Cher had a capacity of 15,827 seats from the end of December 2011.
