The Stadio Guido Angelini is an urban stadium with athletics track in the Italian town of Chieti in the same province , region Abruzzo . It is the home of the Calcio Chieti football club .

history

Construction of the stadium began in 1969 and opened in May 1970 with the Calcio Chieti friendly against AC Milan . Today it has a seating capacity of 12,750. Chieti previously played at Stadio Civitella . For the first nine years, the new stadium was called Stadio Marrucino . It gets its current name from Guido Angelini, a former president of the Calcio Chieti. The venue is located in the Santa Filomena district next to a sports park in which u. a. Rugby , baseball and soccer are all operated. There is also a sports hall in the z. B. volleyball , basketball , indoor soccer and handball is played.

In 2005, renovation of the facility began with the construction of the uncovered north curve Curva Ezio Volpi , which was inaugurated in 2006. In addition to the new spectator rank, the sports facility consists of the partially covered grandstand, the uncovered back straight and an open-air standing area in the south curve. Of the total capacity of the stadium, only 9,007 spectators are allowed to play the Calcio Chieti. During the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara , some football matches were also held in the Chieti stadium.
