The Stadionul Tineretului ( German : Stadium of Youth ) is the football stadium of the Romanian football club FC Brașov from Brașov (German: Kronstadt ) in Transylvania . The venue used to be called Stadionul Silviu Ploeşteanu . The stadium has 8,800 seats including 150 VIP seats and 34 seats in the press box.
In July 2008, experts from the Romanian football association Federația Română de Fotbal visited the stadium in Brasov. It was found that the stadium does not meet the safety regulations. Renovation work had to be carried out shortly before the first game at the start of the season on July 26th against Unirea Urziceni .
Since 2008, the city has been building the Brașov Arena in collaboration with FC Brașov ; it will offer 23,000 covered seats in the grandstands and should originally be completed in the second half of 2010. The old city stadium was demolished in 2008 to make room for the new building. The city and the club share the costs of around 30 million euros . The new venue also contains shops and restaurants as well as office, conference and exhibition rooms. Turf heating is being laid under the playing field . After the demolition of the old stadium was completed in 2010, it was found that they had miscalculated and so the project was initially crushed due to a lack of funds. At the end of 2013, construction should start again. At the beginning of 2014, another ten million euros were made available for the construction. Most of the grants come from the Romanian state, the municipality of Brașov only covers a small portion of the costs.
