history

The StadtZeitung was founded in 1978 in Königsbrunn . It should be an advertising paper with local editorial coverage. The first issue appeared on November 3, 1978. In 1981 the StadtZeitung changed hands and became part of the Mayer & Söhne printing and media group . In 1988 the StaZ headquarters moved from Königsbrunn to Eichleitnerstrasse in Augsburg . The StaZ now had around 20 employees. In 1993 the company moved to the "Medienhaus am Kö" and the neighboring building. In 2008 the StadtZeitung in Augsburg and the branches in Königsbrunn, Mering and Schwabmünchen employed around 70 permanent employees. At the beginning of October 2016, the city newspaper moved into a building opposite the Plärrer, Langenmantelstrasse 14, in Augsburg. The StadtZeitung reports daily online. The “ReaderReporter” project started in 2016, in which readers can actively participate in the reporting.
