The Sarajevo urban highway is a planned and partially completed urban highway in Sarajevo. It is part of the Sarajevo bypass and after its completion will lead from the motorway triangle with the A1 near Butila through suburbs of Sarajevo to Koševsko Brdo in the municipality of Sarajevo-Centar .

The city motorway was initially built as a feeder to Briješće. This section has a length of 3.5 km and includes, among other things, a viaduct over the railway facilities near the Rajlovac train station. In addition, at the end of 2017, another stretch of the city motorway was opened up to the roundabout on Safeta Zajke street. This piece is about 500 meters long.

Bypass

The Sarajevo bypass was under construction from 2007 to 2014. It was divided into two sections. The city motorway and the A1 are integrated in the bypass .

Route

The completed city motorway will run from the motorway triangle at Butila via Briješće, Buća Potok and Pofalići to Koševsko Brdo. It will run north of the Šamac – Sarajevo and Sarajevo – Ploče railway lines, which run parallel from Briješće to Sarajevo station .

Construction progress

The section from the motorway junction at Butila to Briješće was completed and approved at the end of 2015. At the end of 2017, a new piece to Safeta Zajke / Briješće was completed and released. This piece includes a bridge and ends in a roundabout. The construction work for the last and structurally most demanding section to Koševsko Brdo has not yet started.
