The Stadtbad von Freital , also called Augusta-Bad , was located in the listed building at Lange Straße 19 in the Deuben district .

history

In 1887 a bathtub with several rentable bathtubs was built on this site. This was rebuilt by 1895 for 50,000 marks and expanded by a 9.30 × 7 m swimming pool with a water depth of 80 cm to 2 m. The facility, now called "Augusta-Bad", was the first public swimming pool in the region and the later town of Freital. After two periods of closure forced by dilapidation between 1930 and 1933 and 1958 and 1961, the bathroom finally had a 12.5 meter long pool with three lanes as well as shared changing and shower rooms for men and women. The city pool was used for public swimming, school swimming training and by the swimming department of BSG Stahl Freital .

In the 1970s, a new swimming pool with five 25-meter lanes and a teaching pool in GDR series construction (today part of the Hains leisure center ) was opened in Coßmannsdorf . The city baths remained open for a few years. In 1993 it was converted into a residential building.

The former Stadtbad is a neo-baroque building with local and architectural significance as a cultural monument .
