Hains leisure center

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hains Leisure Center is a sports center in the Hainsberg district of the large district town of Freital in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district . The complex, which is operated by the municipal technical works in Freital, houses a swimming pool, sauna, bowling alley with restaurant, ice rink (winter), beach volleyball and tennis courts (summer) and a fitness studio.

location

The "Hains" is located directly on the Rote Weißeritz at the entrance to the Rabenauer Grund in the Coßmannsdorf district , which belongs to the Hainsberg district. The Weißeritz-Park shopping center is located next to it ; The area is also affected by the Kleinbahn route of the Weißeritztalbahn , which runs from Hainsberg through the Rabenauer Grund in the direction of Dippoldiswalde and serves the Freital-Coßmannsdorf stop not far from the leisure center.

history

The leisure center goes back to the indoor swimming pool opened in 1978 in Hainsberg / Coßmannsdorf, which was created as a replacement for the too small and outdated Stadtbad Freital in Deuben . It was built in the typical design for smaller swimming pools in the GDR with a 25-meter sports pool with five lanes and a teaching pool . There was also a smaller sports hall at times.

After 1990, the high municipal subsidies due to the outdated structure and falling visitor numbers made investments necessary to expand the offer and increase the catchment area. The grove was built under this name in March 1997. The swimming pool was renovated and a complex including a sauna area, bowling alley, restaurant and fitness studio right on the Rote Weißeritz was added. A new entrance area was created at the interface between the old swimming pool and the new building. In the direction of Rabenauer Grund, a multifunctional area was laid out that could be used for tennis and badminton in summer and as an ice surface in winter. This area, initially laid out under the open sky, was covered in 1998. The number of visitors could be increased significantly through the extensions. In view of the higher operating costs, we deliberately decided not to add or build a new water park area , as has happened in other cities.

A few years after its completion, the floods in 2002 led to some destruction, so that renovation measures were necessary again. In the following years the sauna and fitness center were expanded.

Slide tower and water slides in the grove

After the number of visitors declined again after 2010 and the operating costs continued to rise at the same time, the expansion of an adventure area was considered in order to achieve a renewed increase in attractiveness and its effects on visitor numbers and sales. For around 3.5 million euros, a 20 meter long multi-purpose pool with a small water slide and flow channel, a water playground for toddlers and two slides (double tube slide, 114 meters and tire slide, 142 meters) were built in 2014 and 2015 . The number of visitors to the swimming pool doubled from 78,000 in 2014 to 160,000 in 2016, the first year after completion. As a consequence, the changing area was expanded in 2017 and the entrance area made more efficient.

use

The grove is used by around 400,000 visitors annually.

In addition to public bathing, the swimming pool is used for swimming lessons in the surrounding schools . In addition, the swimming department of the Hainsberg sports club and the Freitaler local group of the water guard use the sports tracks for their training. The gym offers aqua fitness courses.

The covered multifunctional area is made available for tennis , badminton and beach volleyball in summer . In the winter months, a cooling system built into the ground can create an ice surface that is used for public ice skating and ice hockey training. The area is also a regular venue in summer.

Events

Events are held in and around the leisure center over the course of the year.

The Hains is co-organizer as well as the start and finish point of the "Run in the Spring" through the Rabenauer Grund with around 1200 participants annually. Since 2018, the Freital offshoot of the CrossDeLuxe run through the Rabenauer Grund and the region northwest of Rabenau has also been held here once a year .

The covered multifunctional area is used repeatedly for concert performances by artists from the hit scene. Matthias Reim , Helene Fischer and Fantasy performed in the Hains, among others . A public viewing is offered on the area during soccer world and European championships .

In addition, smaller sporting events organized by Hains itself or by clubs regularly take place on the site.
