The list of schools in Freital contains all primary and general education schools in Freital .

At the beginning of the 2016/2017 school year there were seven elementary schools , four secondary schools , two general education special schools , two vocational schools and one grammar school in Freital .

In the seven primary schools in the districts of Birkigt, Hainsberg Niederhäslich, Pesterwitz, Potschappel, Wurgwitz and Zauckerode, a total of 1432 children studied in 64 classes in 2016. 82 teachers were employed in primary schools. The four high schools had a total of 50 classes with 1104 students and 101 teachers. At the Freitaler Gymnasium 1062 students studied in 35 classes and were looked after by 86 teachers. The special schools had 25 classes with 269 students and 44 teachers. The two vocational schools in the city accommodated 1,577 students and 107 teachers in 35 classes.

With the exception of the technical college and secondary school operated by Sabel Freital gAG, the Freital educational institutions are publicly owned. The special schools, the vocational school center and the grammar school are sponsored by the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains . The primary schools and three secondary schools are supported by the city of Freital.

The former type school building Dresden Atrium on Johannisstrasse, which was converted through renovation, was previously the location of the Poisental primary school, whose current building is a branch of the grammar school. The school has a single-field and a three-field sports hall as well as outdoor sports facilities on the Johannisstrasse building.

The high school emerged from the EOS Freital and was called "Kreisgymnasium Freital-Deuben" until 2007. In 1996 the facility was awarded the Bertelsmann Foundation's “Innovative Schools” special prize. After merging with the Manfred-von-Ardenne-Gymnasium from Freital-Zauckerode in 2003, it was the largest high school in Saxony for several years.
