Brigitte Reimann Burg City Library
The Brigitte Reimann Burg city library is the city library of the city of Burg (near Magdeburg) in Saxony-Anhalt . The library building is a listed building . The library was named after the writer Brigitte Reimann, who was born in Burg .

The library is located northeast of the city center of Burger on the north side of Berliner Straße at the address Berliner Straße 38.
Furnishing
The library has around 60,000 items. In addition to books, DVDs, CDs, audio books and large print books are offered. There is also a small selection of non-German-language fiction in English , French and Russian .
The users have the option of using copiers, color printers and fax machines. Internet access is also offered.
A special feature is a collection of books by and about the writer Brigitte Reimann. The library also has a photo by Reimann taken by photographer Ernst Jäger . She is also shown on a gouache by Colette Deblé . A portrait of Reimann created in 1948 by the graphic artist Gerhard Stauf comes from. From the estate of Stauf an exhibition on bookplate including the tools needed to make the tools came to the library on permanent loan .
The library also has a digital library and documentation on Ernst Hobusch's work .
Architecture and history
The library building was built according to an inscription on the threshold in 1589. Originally, it served as the house of the dressmaker Daniel Schinne. The two-storey half - timbered house is designed in the Renaissance style. The eaves-standing structure is 16 containers wide. The thresholds above the consoles are decorated in the form of dew sticks . The wooden leg angles on the upper floor are not carved, the roof is created in the form of the Märkischer Reiterverband . Both are considered typical of the East Elbe building tradition. There is an ogival gate passage on the left side of the building.
There is a subsequently built-in black kitchen inside the building .
The Brigitte Reimann Burg City Library was opened in the building on November 10, 2007.
