History and description

The city fountain is the work of the sculptor Johann Baptist Scholl the Younger . The fountain made of red sandstone was fed by a water pipe that was extended in 1860 and came from the Seiterswiese . The faucet is made of bronze and has the shape of an animal head. A block-like, upwardly tapering shaft sits above the transversely mounted rectangular base with the semicircular fountain bowl . The crown with the coat of arms and the crown over the volutes is carved out of the red sandstone .
