The town hall is a congress and cultural center in Dillingen in Saarland . It offers a large auditorium, a lounge, two foyers, a bistro and a few side rooms.

history

Until the town hall was built, cultural life first took place in the halls of various inns. Only in 1953, after the construction of the state secondary school with its auditorium, was a suitable hall available for modest demands for the next nine years. As a result of an application made in the city council in 1957, the decision was made to build a separate city hall in the city park. The chair of the then announced competition had of the Third Reich on the staff of Albert Speer active Herbert Rimpl held. The jury selected the Kurt Baldauf, Klaus Hoffmann and Erwin Klein working group from among the applicants . After the topping-out ceremony on August 2, 1959, the shell construction followed in 1960. The construction costs amounted to five million DM.

Functionality

The target was the realization of a multi-purpose hall . This was achieved, among other things, by the swiveling floor measuring 400 m². This means that the hall can be used for both table events and theater performances. The rear part can be raised by one meter using a hydraulic system. The front part is lowered by half a meter. The axis of rotation was positioned in such a way that only 42 tons are required to manipulate the floor of 200 tons. The full stage is 22 meters wide, 12.5 meters deep and 16 meters high. The equipment includes an orchestra pit , a circular horizon, a lighting bridge , cord floors with 15 prospect pulls and safety devices such as an iron curtain and a deluge system. The orchestra pit, which can hold 60 musicians, can be raised hydraulically to hall level and, thanks to the integration into the hall, provides a further 50 seats. The building acoustics planning was carried out by Dr.-Ing. habil. W. Zeller from Stuttgart.

architecture

The foyer, hall and restaurant are on one level. The front wall designed by Blasius Spreng is implemented using encaustic technology . The hall has been a listed building since 2011.
