Urbanolect

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In linguistics , one speaks of an urban ect with a language variety that is spoken in a city or urban region . Similar to the Regiolect , it is a spoken colloquial language that is located between the local dialect or the dialects of the environment on the one hand and the spoken standard language or the standard language on the other and mediates between them . In many cases, an urban electric can also be classified as a sociolect , because at least initially it is often only spoken and worn by certain population groups.

If an urban ect is significant or widespread beyond the immediate urban region, if it has a strong influence on the languages of the surrounding area or if it emerged from a mixture of very different original languages, for example in the context of waves of immigration into an urban conurbation , one speaks more of a metro ect than from an urban electric.
