history

Opposite the city guard, built around 1780, was the town hall of Ahrweiler, which was demolished in 1797. Until the new town hall was built, the administration was housed in the town guard. After that, the city guard served as a commercial and residential building. Today there is a shop and office space in the building.

architecture

The two-storey late rococo building with a sloping mansard roof has three axes on the narrow side and five axes on the long side . The plastered building is structured by pilasters in stone . Above the portal is a rich trophy structure with the coat of arms of the city of Ahrweiler. In the mansard roof there is a blown gable with an oval window. An older keystone was used above the side door on the long side , which is marked with the year 1566 and shows the coat of arms of Ahrweiler.
