Staehelina fruticosa is a plant from the genus Staehelina in the family of Compositae (Asteraceae). According to Euro + Med, it is betterto placein the genus Hirtellina than Hirtellina fruticosa (L.) Dittrich .

features

Staehelina fruticosa is a shrub that reaches heights of 50 to 150 centimeters. The leaves are 35 to 55 millimeters long, oblong-spatulate or lanceolate, prickly, glabrous, glandular and blue-green on both sides. The inflorescence is oblong-cylindrical and 15 to 20 millimeters in size. The crown is whitish. The ovary and the fruits are weißzottig and 5 to 6 millimeters. The pappus is 10 to 12 millimeters in size.

The flowering period extends from September to November.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 34.

Occurrence

Staehelina fruticosa occurs in the Kardägäis . The species grows in crevices of limestone. In Crete it can be found at altitudes from 0 to 2000 meters.
