The Stair Hill is a 1500 m high hill on the Graham Coast of Graham Land in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises at the head of Holtedahl Bay .
Aerial photos by Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. from 1956 and 1957 were used by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey to map the mountain. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1959 after the US physicist Ralph Stair (1900–1980) from the National Bureau of Standards , a pioneer in the development of protective goggles against snow blindness .
