Stan Mudenge

Isack Stanislaus "Stan" Gorerazvo Mudenge (born December 17, 1941 in the Zimutu Reserve, Southern Rhodesia ; † October 4, 2012 in Masvingo , Zimbabwe ) was a Zimbabwean politician of the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF), which among others was Foreign Minister between 1995 and 1995.

Life

Mudenge studied history at the University of Zimbabwe , the University of York and the University of London and then worked as a historian, who mainly specialized in the history of Africa.

On April 15, 1985 he became Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York City and held this diplomatic post until his replacement by Simbarashe Mumbengegwi on April 14, 1990. After his return he was from April 15, 1990 to April 14 1992 Secretary for Political Affairs on the Board of the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF).

Mudenge was appointed to the government on April 15, 1992 by President Robert Mugabe as Minister of Higher Education and held this ministerial office until April 14, 1995. He then succeeded Nathan Shamuyarira as part of a cabinet reshuffle Foreign Minister (Minister of Foreign Affairs) and held this post for ten years until his replacement by Simbarashe Mumbengegwi on April 14, 2005.

He then succeeded Herbert Murerwa as Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education in the Mugabe government as part of another government reshuffle . He also held this ministerial office in the government of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai until he was replaced by Olivia Muchena on October 4, 2012.
