The Standard V8 was the only passenger car with a V8 engine that the Standard Motor Company in Coventry built from 1937 to 1938.

This car was the largest model of the famous "Flying Standards" with the pseudo-streamlined body. Its long-stroke, side-controlled V8 engine had a displacement of 2686 cm³ (bore × stroke = 63.5 mm × 106 mm) and developed 75 bhp (55 kW) at 4000 min −1 . A three-speed transmission transmitted the engine power to the rear wheels. The cars reached a top speed of 129 km / h.

Production was discontinued as early as 1938 without a successor. The sports car Raymond Mays 20 hp was built in a few copies in 1938–1939 based on this car .
