Helmut Grundmann

Helmut Grundmann (born November 28, 1920 in Reichenbach am Eulengebirge / Lower Silesia ; † May 17, 2009 in Heiligenstadt in Upper Franconia ) was a German Baptist pastor and from 1967 to 1984 Secretary General of the European Baptist Mission .

Life

After his return from the Second World War , in which he had participated as an officer, Helmut Grundmann completed a one-year internship in the Evangelical Free Church of Northeim . In 1948 he began studying at the theological seminar of the German Baptists - first in Wiedenest , where the Hamburg-Horner seminar had relocated due to the destruction caused by the war, and later at the actual seminar location in Hamburg-Horn. After the final theological examination, Grundmann worked as a probationary pastor in the Evangelical Free Church Community in Stade and in 1953 received his recognition as a pastor of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches. Further community services followed in Konstanz and Singen (Hohentwiel) (until 1962) and in Nuremberg (until 1967). Then the European Baptist Mission appointed him to be its general secretary. He held this position until he retired in 1984.

In addition to serving within his free church, Helmut Grundmann also worked in non-denominational functions. He worked in the working group Evangelical Missions and as a financial administrator on the board of the German Evangelical Alliance . For several years Grundmann was President of the European Evangelical Alliance . He was on the founding board of the Help for Brothers Association .

After his retirement, the Evangelical Free Church Community of Heiligenstadt in Upper Franconia appointed Grundmann to be its pastor and pastor of the affiliated diaconal organization Familienzentrum Heiligenstadt e. V.

Helmut Grundmann had been with Christa, geb. Röther, married. The couple had three sons and two daughters. He spent his retirement with his wife in the Heiligenstadt senior center in Upper Franconia.
