Stanisław Lentz (born April 23, 1861 in Warsaw ; † October 19, 1920 ibid) was a Polish painter, since 1909 professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw .

He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow from 1877 to 1879 with Feliks Szynalewski and Izydor Jabłoński, then continued his studies in Warsaw at Wojciech Gerson's drawing school.

He later studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts from 1880 to 1884 under Sándor Wagner and Gyula Benczúr , and from 1884 to 1887 at the Académie Julian in Paris .

Back in Warsaw, he published his drawings, mainly portraits, in the Warsaw magazines.

In 1888 he became a full member of the Warsaw Society for the Promotion of Fine Arts, in 1910 of the Association of Polish Artists "Sztuka" ( The Art ) .

He made frequent trips abroad: in 1896 to Berlin , Paris and Madrid , in 1897 to Paris, in 1900 he visited Normandy, in the period 1903 and 1905–1914 he spent summer holidays in Scheveningen .

In 1909 he was appointed professor and director of the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

Lentz mainly dealt with portrait and genre painting . The early works around 1890 showed clear influences from the Munich School . Many pictures showed the daily life of the Warsaw proletariat, including the Jews. Around 1915 Lenz was influenced by Dutch painting, especially by Frans Hals .

His most important work is "Strike" from 1910. The picture was taken in connection with the events of the Russian Revolution in 1905 , which also led to unrest in Russian Poland .
