Stanislaw Pawlak

Stanisław Michał Pawlak (born September 27, 1933 in Kalisz ) is a Polish lawyer and has been a judge at the International Tribunal for the Sea since 2005 .

Life

Pawlak completed his law studies in 1955 with a master's degree and obtained his doctorate in 1967 at the University of Warsaw, where he also obtained his habilitation in political science in 1973 .

After joining the Foreign Service , he initially worked at the Polish embassy in Tokyo . This was followed by positions as a consultant in the Polish Foreign Ministry (1963–1965, 1970–1972), in the United States (1967–1970), Canada (Ambassador, 1978–1983) at the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York (Ambassador, 1989 –1991) and in Syria (Ambassador, 1997–2001). Pawlak has been a professor at Warsaw University since 1974 . He is also from 1987 to 1991 Member of the International Law Commission and heard since 1986, the International Law Association at.

Since October 1st, 2005 he has been a judge at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg . After his re-election, his term of office will run until September 30, 2023.
