Stanislav Struhar (2015)

Stanislav Struhar (born January 4, 1964 in Gottwaldov ) is an Austrian writer .

Life

Stanislav Struhar's grandfather was a senior city official. Stanislav Struhar denied the pressure to adapt from the communist regime. After repeated suicide attempts, he was twice admitted to the closed ward of a psychiatric clinic . In 1988 he and his wife fled to Austria. They have been recognized as persecuted refugees under federal law and the Geneva Convention . Nevertheless, the reunification with the son who remained in Czechoslovakia did not succeed at first , despite the intervention of the refugee commissioner of the United Nations , the Federal Ministry and the Austrian Society for Human Rights. Only after the fall of the Iron Curtain was the merger achieved. Stanislav Struhar lives with his family in Vienna .

Struhar has been writing poetry and prose from a young age. He wrote his first literary works in the Czech language , but soon began to write in German. His novel The Manuscript was presented in the Vienna Parliament in 2002. Stanislav Struhar received recognitions and grants for his literary work. His work is also published in a Czech translation.
