Stanley Gardner

Stanley Gardner (born December 13, 1890 in Sherbrooke / Québec , † August 17, 1945 in Montreal ) was a Canadian pianist and music teacher.

Gardner had piano lessons with Stratford Dawson in Montreal and studied from 1912 in Berlin with Ferruccio Busoni in Egon Petri . On his return he settled in Montreal as a piano teacher. His students included Samuel Dolin , Rose Goldblatt and Dorothy Morton . With Rose Goldblatt he formed a piano duo that could be heard in numerous concerts and radio performances between 1936 and 1945. He was also active as a piano soloist and was one of the first pianists to perform the works of Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravelperformed in Canada. His repertoire also included works by contemporary North American composers.
