Stanley Mann

Stanley Mann (born August 8, 1928 in Canada - † January 11, 2016 in Los Angeles , California ) was a Canadian screenwriter .

Life

In 1951 Mann's career began with his first co-production. He wrote the script for The Butler's Night Off with Anton Van De Water . Further scripts for television series and feature films followed. The greatest success in 1965 was the screenplay for The Catcher , for which he and co-author John Kohn were nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe in 1966. He wrote his last screenplay for Hanna's War in 1988 . His late works Conan the Destroyer (1984), the Stephen King film The Fire Devil (1984) and Ken Follett's The Needle became famous . He made guest appearances in Der Feuerteufel und Meteor (1979). In 1995 he was executive producer on The 1999 Class .
