The Star Promontory ( English for Sternlandspitze ) is a segmented headland on the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It is about halfway between the Mather Peninsula and Cape Rybachiy on the shores of Prydz Bay . To the southwest is Sapozhok Island in the group of the Rauer Islands .
Australian scientists named them after their shape, reminiscent of an imaginary star, with two points facing north-northwest and west.
