Star TV is a private Turkish television broadcaster of Doğuş Holding , based in Istanbul . It was one of the first private Turkish television channels.
Foundation and organization
Star TV was founded on May 5, 1990 by Tevfik Ahmet Özal and Cem Uzan . In 2005, Star TV was acquired by Aydın Doğan and his Doğan Yayın Holding for 306 million US dollars . In November 2011, Doğan Yayın Holding sold the station in order to finance billions in back taxes required in 2009. Star TV was bought by Ferit Şahenk and his Doğuş Holding , which also owns NTV , for $ 327 million.
