Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith is the video game based on the movie Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith . This is the third part of the Star Wars saga. The game includes locations from the film and, in addition, missions and adventures not told in the film. In 2005 the game was released for the Playstation 2 , the Nintendo DS, the Xbox , the Gameboy Advance and the mobile phone .

content

The aim is to re-enact the events of the film in order to continue the story of the film accordingly. Here you slip into the roles of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi . The player controls one of the two characters depending on the mission (17 pieces in total) and fights with the lightsaber and the abilities of power against enemy droids, Jedi and other typical heroes or antiheroes of the fictional universe. While the course of the adventure can only be played alone, a multiplayer mode is included, which allows cooperation and battles against each other. You can also choose from other well-known characters such as Yoda , Count Dooku and Darth Vader . Gradually, extras such as concept drawings and original scenes from the cinema adventure can be unlocked. Unlike many other games, online mode is not supported.

Places of the event

Here the game is logically based on the film. In addition to the space battle of Coruscant (fight against Count Dooku), the planets Utapau (confrontation between Grievious and Obi-Wan), Coruscant himself (Jedi temple) and Mustafar (final battle between Anakin and his master) are part of the game. Locations in which there is no military or other confrontation have almost all been left out. An exception are some original scenes from the film.

Role play elements

Although the game is not a classic computer role-playing game , a lot of the game content is based on this genre:

  • A system that enables the improvement of power skills and the use of the lightsaber is integrated.
  • On firearms is largely unnecessary, isolated the player will meet with guns tasks.
  • Reaching different levels is possible, but there are only three different levels ( Jedi Padawan , Jedi Knight , Jedi Master ).

Nevertheless, it is not a real RPG, as the selection of different weapons is not possible and no typical elements such as dealers are included.

Versions for mobile consoles and devices

Nintendo DS version

The variant for the portable DS differs slightly, in addition to the limited scope, changes have been made to the console. In contrast, there are sequences as a pilot of a space fighter, which are missing in the versions for the stationary consoles. In addition, the option of wireless connection is supported if all participating consoles have the appropriate module.

Gameboy Advance and Handy Version

Furthermore, there are in some cases far less extensive offshoots for mobile phones and the Gameboy Advance available.

background

  • There is an alternate ending in single player mode. In the normal course of events, Obi-Wan Anakin defeats Mustafar in a direct duel. However, the final mission of the game turns the story upside down. Anakin destroys Obi-Wan in battle and rises to ruler of the galaxy by killing his master, Darth Sidious , immediately afterwards . Both outcomes of the adventure can be replayed in the game.
  • A small logic error becomes noticeable in the course of the game: Although Anakin eventually becomes a Sith lord, he reaches the final level of a Jedi master. However, since the Jedi and Sith are warring orders, this is practically impossible.
  • The game contains not only original scenes, but also scenes that were created entirely with computer technology. The graphics of the game and the virtual sequences are identical.
  • While the original scenes are exclusively in English, the animated scenes are both (German) dubbed and English.
  • The appearance of the characters is based exactly on the real actors, which does not apply to all game implementations of films. Some of the voice actors are in the German version, in no way original in the English version.
  • A platinum version has been released for the Playstation 2.
