Code Canary (formerly Starpost ) is a dark pop band founded in Nuremberg in 2008 .

history

The band around the singer David Gabelaia came together in the summer of 2008 in Nuremberg . At the beginning of 2009 they released their first EP The Future Is Now , but at that time still without a label. There were various appearances, including at the world-famous Nuremberg "Bardentreffen" and for the first time outside of Bavaria. At the end of 2010 they had the chance to perform as part of the BY-on project with the well-known band Fehlfarben and they succeeded in being named “Bavarian Band of the Week” by Bayerischer Rundfunk, with which they got their first TV appearance. In addition, they are now represented on the Mercedes-Benz Mixed Tapes for the second time.

In February 2011 the band released their first album, Opticks, on the specially founded Starpost Records label. The tour that followed included concerts with bands like The Airborne Toxic Event , Woven Hand , the Parlotones and Trouble Over Tokyo .

On March 23, 2012, the band released another recording, the EP Chromatics . Besides the fact that Code Canary is expanding their musical spectrum with Chromatics , the sound is also more defined and more guitar-heavy overall.

Code Canary was a winner and winner of the John Lennon Talent Awards 2012/2013.

The EP Wolves has been available in stores since March 13, 2014 . Wolves is the first work that the band released under the name Code Canary. On this EP, too, the band's musical change from indie rock to electro can be seen.

Also on March 13, 2014, the band made their name change from Starpost to Code Canary public.

In March 2014 Code Canary toured Europe for two weeks promoting their EP Wolves .
