Stars Are Blind is a Paris Hilton song written and produced by Fernando Garibay , Sheppard Solomon and Ralph McCarthy . The song is a pop song with a reggae rhythm under it. In June 2006, Stars Are Blind was released as the first single of the July album first Paris Hilton album Paris .

Copyright lawsuit

In June 2007, a lawsuit for 370,000 euros was brought before the London High Court against Paris Hilton's former record company for alleged copyright infringement. Paris Hilton and her record company were accused of illegally using the song Kingston Town by Kenrick Randolph Patrick (1970), which became a classic in the spring of 1990 by the reggae group UB40 ; the corresponding music quotes were an essential part of Stars Are Blind .

Music video

Paris Hilton directed and produced the music video for Stars Are Blind at Paradise Cove Beach in Malibu , California on May 24, 2006, and was directed and produced by Chris Applebaum. In the video, many pictures of Paris Hilton are shown, she is half-naked and only wearing jeans , while she and her lover come closer to each other on the beach and touch. The video premiered on June 6, 2006 on MTV .

A second version of the video was recorded for Europe . This version had its European premiere on July 5, 2006. The video is also referred to as "Version 2", "Black & White Version" or "Clean version" because it doesn't have as many erotic scenes as the first video.

Chart results and commercial evaluation

Stars Are Blind made its highest debut on the American Billboard Hot 100 in 2006 with number 18. The single reached top 5 placements in numerous countries.

At the beginning of June 2007, Warner Brothers terminated the contract with Paris Hilton allegedly because of disappointing sales figures: The record label was disappointed with the moderate success of the $ 250,000 video and a worldwide advertising tour with which Stars Are Blind was advertised.
