Stasys Vansevičius

Stasys Vansevičius (born January 6, 1927 in Gruožininkai , Trakai district ; † April 20, 2014 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian lawyer, legal historian , professor at Vilnius University and patriarch of Lithuanian legal history.

biography

After graduation Stasys Vansevičius graduated in 1952 graduate study of law at the Law Faculty of Vilnius University and worked as a research assistant and staff (professors, top university teachers) at the university. In 1958 he received his doctorate on the subject of “Legal Status of Lithuanian Peasants in the Second Half of the 19th Century” ( Lietuvos valstiečių teisinė padėtis XIX amžiaus antrojoje pusėje ) and was appointed lecturer . In 1970 , Stasys Vansevičius completed his habilitation at Vilnius University on the subject of "Legal Status of Lithuanian Peasants in the Era of Imperialism " ( Lietuvos valstiečių teisinė ir socialinė ekonominė padėtis imperializmo laikotarpiu ). 1961–2003, Stasys Vansevičius headed the chair of legal theory and legal history. His research interests included areas such as Lithuanian legal history , law of the Lithuanian statutes .

Stasys Vansevičius was married. His son is Judge Donatas Vansevičius (* 1955), Vice President of the Vilnius District Administrative Court .
