The Staten Island Heights are a mainly flat and icy plateau in East Antarctica Victoria Land . They stretch between the Greenville Valley and the Alatna Valley in the Convoy Range .
The United States Geological Survey mapped the plateau using geodetic surveys and aerial photographs from the United States Navy . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1964 after the icebreaker USCGC Staten Island , which had been part of the US association in McMurdo Sound since 1956 .
