Stefan Bircheneder

Stefan Bircheneder (* 1974 in Vilshofen an der Donau , Bavaria) is a German painter .

Life

After graduating from high school in design at the FOS Straubing, Bircheneder trained as a restorer. In 2009 Bircheneder went public for the first time with his work. Bircheneder has been a full-time freelance painter since 2013. He lives and works in Regensburg .

In his mostly large-format oil paintings, Bircheneder deals photo-realistically with industrial ruins and abandoned workplaces. His deserted panoramas and close-ups from closed factories record the emergence and development of our industrial culture in a conservational way. The traces of the people can still be guessed and so they become actors in the abandoned scenarios. Bircheneder mainly paints with oil on canvas using the glaze technique . With the series of works "Only for Personal", the artist focuses on the privacy of workers in factories using picture objects and canvas paintings of social rooms within production facilities. The missing figurative representation of the workers in Bircheneder's work is canceled out with these pictorial objects and the absence of the protagonists is replaced by their legacies and they become present. The trompe-l'oeil variations of locker doors give us an insight into the employees' intimate retreat - the locker.
