Stefan Göttelmann (born March 12, 1963 in Mainz ) is a German church musician and solo organist .

Life

Stefan Göttelmann gained his first musical experience in the children's choir and choir at St. Katharinen in Oppenheim under Dieter Hechtenberg. The Abitur was followed by private studies with Peter A. Stadtmüller in Mainz and Nieder-Olm . From 1984 to 1989 he completed church music studies in Heidelberg in the subjects of organ and organ improvisation, which he graduated with honors. Until 1991 he studied in the concert class of Guy Bovet with the completion of an international concert exam, followed in 1992 by a soloist diploma for organ at the University of Music in Basel.

Since 1992 Göttelmann has been a lecturer for artistic organ playing and organ improvisation at the University for Church Music Heidelberg of the Protestant regional church in Baden. At the theological faculty of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg he supervises the liturgical-homiletic seminar in cooperation with the University of Church Music. In addition, he regularly leads courses in organ improvisation and stylistic interpretation in Austria and Poland (Danzig, Pelplin) and in the USA (Lutheran Pacific University, Tacoma).

As part of his concert activities, concert tours have taken him to the USA (partly with the trio con tromba Heidelberg ) and other European countries. In 1995 Göttelmann interpreted the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach in 16 liturgically arranged concerts. In 1996 the complete works of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy followed and in 1997 a performance of all organ works by Johannes Brahms . Further complete performances took place in 2006 ( César Franck ) and 2007 ( Dieterich Buxtehude ).

Since 1996 he has been an organ teacher at the Johann Sebastian Bach Gymnasium in Mannheim. Since 1991 he has been a church musician in Wilhelmsfeld, where he headed the Wilhelmsfeld Singing Circle from 1997 to 2001 and performed cantatas, oratorios and singspiels. From 2014 to 2017 he was cantor at the Evangelical City Church in Eppingen . Since the end of 2016 he has been a church musician for the Protestant parish of Tettnang and cantor and organist at the castle church in Montfort Castle .

Within his concert activities, the performance of works for organ and orchestra, as well as organ and mixed choir is a focus of his work. Göttelmann has already played the organ part in almost all of the major works for organ and orchestra ( Francis Poulenc , Josef Gabriel Rheinberger ). He also appears as a harpsichordist and accompanist .

Göttelmann is married and has two children.
