Stefan Kofner

Stefan Kofner (* 1964 in Lank-Latum , now Meerbusch ) is a German economist and university lecturer in the housing and real estate industry.

biography

Kofner grew up in Meerbusch-Lank and, after completing his military service, studied economics at the University of Cologne , where he worked as a research assistant until 1993. In 1994 he moved to the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research in Halle , and in 1996 to the University of Leipzig .

Kofner has been Professor of Housing and Real Estate Management at the Zittau / Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the associated TRAWOS Institute since 1997 , but also lectures for other educational institutions (e.g. Saxon Administration and Business Academy and Municipal Educational Institute). On a project basis, he also worked for the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior, the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and the BBSR . A focus of his research work in recent years has been the critical observation of capital market-oriented housing companies such as Vonovia. He has been an invited expert at numerous parliamentary hearings. Kofner was a member of the supervisory board in the municipal housing industry.

In the press, Kofner often appeared as an expert on issues relating to the housing industry, such as the Zeit , the Stern and the Tagesspiegel .

He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing , the European Network of Housing Research, and the German Association for Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning .

Kofner has written numerous scientific and general economic publications.

Political activity

In the mid-1990s, Kofner was a brief member of the CDU .

Kofner joined the SPD in 2006 , but had already written position papers for the SPD-affiliated Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in the 1990s .

In 2008, Kofner ran for the office of District Administrator of the Görlitz district for the SPD. Due to the poor election results in the first ballot, he withdrew the candidacy for the second ballot.

In 2015, Kofner gave a lecture on the subject of “Renting and Housing” at a conference that was also financed by the RAV . Since March 2018, Kofner has been a member of the board of trustees of the AfD- affiliated Desiderius Erasmus Foundation .
