Stefan Obergfell

Stefan Obergfell OMI (* 1960 in Brigachtal -Klengen) is a Catholic priest . From 2013 to 2019 he was the second Provincial of the Central European Province of the Oblates ( Germany , Austria and the Czech Republic ).

After training as a printer, he entered the Oblate Order in 1991. He studied in Mainz and Dublin. He was ordained priest in 1999. From then on he worked as a chaplain in Munich, youth and school chaplain in St. Nicholas Monastery , Superior in St. Bonifatius Monastery in Hünfeld and Superior of the Oblate Training House in Lahnstein. He was appointed provincial superior on January 14, 2013, and appointed to his post on May 21, 2013.

At the beginning of its term of office, the Provincialate of the Order still had its seat in the Mainz Oblate Monastery, but under his leadership it was relocated to the St. Boniface Monastery in Hünfeld in early 2017.

On January 14, 2019, Felix Rehbock was appointed by the Superior General of the Oblates, Father Louis Lougen , to succeed Stefan Obergfell as Provincial. The change in office took place on May 26, 2019.

After his work as Provincial, Stefan Obergfell takes on tasks in the pilgrimage pastoral care at the Maria Taferl pilgrimage church in Austria.
