Stefan Suess

Stefan Süß (born March 28, 1974 in Wuppertal ) is a German economist . Since 2010 he has held the chair for business administration , especially work, human resources and organization, at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf .

Career

After graduating from high school and doing community service, Stefan Süß studied economics at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal from 1994 to 1998 . From 1999 to 2009 he worked as a research assistant, academic advisor and senior academic advisor at the chair for business administration, especially organization and planning ( Ewald Scherm ) at the FernUniversität in Hagen . There he was awarded a Dr. rer. pole. PhD. In 2009, the Habilitation and award was the teaching license of Business Administration .

Since April 2010, Stefan Süß has held the chair for business administration , especially organization and personnel, the denomination of which was supplemented in 2019 by the specification "work" (since then chair for business administration, especially work, personnel and organization).

Stefan Süß is a member of the Empirical Personnel and Organizational Research working group (AKempor) and was on the editorial board of the European Management Journal from 2012 to 2014. He has been a member of the editorial advisory board of the German Journal of Human Resource Management (ZfP) since 2016 and co-editor of this journal since 2019. As part of his academic career, Stefan Süß has taught at the University of Duisburg-Essen , the European Business School ESCP-EAP Berlin, the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences (Austria) and the Düsseldorf Business School. Together with Eva Lutz, he has been the spokesman for the Manchot Graduate School on the competitiveness of young companies since April 2016. Since October 2019, Stefan Süß has been chairman of the Scientific Commission for Personnel in the Association of University Lecturers for Business Administration .

In addition, Süß is active in the context of university self-administration. From October 2013 to December 2014 he held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf , which he has also held since October 2018. From January 2015 to September 2017, Stefan Süß was Vice Rector for Study Quality and Personnel Management at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. Since May 2016 he has been chairman of the scientific advisory board of the Düsseldorf Business School.

Scientific work

The main research areas of Süß relate mainly to the business functions of work, personnel and organization. The research is interdisciplinary and empirically oriented. Contents are currently personnel management , making work more flexible , employer attractiveness, work stress and various aspects of organizational behavior . These and other topics are reflected in publications in (peer-reviewed) international and national journals, edited volumes as well as edited journals. His research was funded in the form of third-party funded projects by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the European Social Fund.

Awards

In 2015 and 2018 he was awarded the Medal of Honor by the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf for special achievements at the university. In November 2017 he was honored with the Reinhard and Emmi Heynen Prize for special scientific achievements.
